*RING*
Jason: *picks up phone* Hello?
Melanie: 'Sup.

And that was the start of a most interesting conversation lasting 1:14:49.

Where are all the anime fans? That was one of the main topics of my conversation with the Luuster. At St. Mary's, I can't find anyone to talk to anime about. Well, as far as I can see. Jason and I are looking for anime fans. Seriously, where the hell are they?! I mean, there's got to be someone at that school who will support me on the KeikoxBotan ship. I need enlightenment...and Jason does too. Sure, our talks about anime and manga are actually interesting but we need new ideas put into our discussion.

Melanie: KEIKO AND BOTAN FOR LIFE!!
Jason: NO.
Melanie: KEIKO AND BOTAN FOR LIFE!!
Jason: NO.

You see where I'm going? What it should be like is this...

Melanie: KEIKO AND BOTAN FOR LIFE!!
Another person: KEIKO AND BOTAN FOR LIFE!!
Jason: NO.
Melanie: It's 2-1! WE WIN!!!!
Another person: YEAH! KEIKO AND BOTAN FOR LIFE!!

That is how it should be. All anime fans are into anime for a reason. IT'S JUST SO DARN FREAKIN' COOL. And, a good majority of anime fans actually enjoy having a rigid discussion about how the Gundam boys are gay, or how the animators of Rurouni Kenshin keep changing their character's face shape. But, we aren't looking for otakus.

OTAKU= Japanese word often used for freakishly devoted anime fans.

Well, we want otakus, but just half otakus. You know, cuz if they know too much then we're gonna feel stupid. But, we don't wanna be talking to anyone who has only seen what's on Cartoon Network. Come on, EXPAND YOUR MIND.

Jason: Yeah, none of those people who watch Hamtaro.
Melanie: WHAT?!
Jason: Oh, don't tell me you watch Hamtaro...
Melanie: HAMTARO ROCKS!!!!! *starts singing Hamtaro theme song*

Hamtaro is cool. But back on subject...I don't mean to diss Cartoon Network. Without Cartoon Network I would not have been able to discover many good animes. But that doesn't mean I like Cartoon Network...they do too much freakin' editing. Honestly, even on the recently axed Adult Swim. It's called Adult Swim...YOU MIGHT AS WELL SHOW ADULT THEMES. Dude...it just makes sense. We want to meet people who have seen anime or read manga outside Cartoon Network. And of course, NO YU-GI-OH PEOPLE. Do not claim to be an otaku just because you've claimed to seen every episode of Yu-Gi-Oh...even the episodes not shown in the US yet. Yu-Gi-Oh intrigues me but I wish they didn't make it into such a damn kiddie show...I mean, they didn't even show the part about how Marik used a knife to carve a picture of the Egyptian God Cards onto his back. Come on, show the little kiddies that! They can take it. Shoot...my parents didn't supervise what I watched when I was a kid and look how I turned out? (One more thing, I better not here no comments about that last statement.)

So Jason and I are looking for a half-otaku fan. Hell, I'll be glad to find anyone who can honestly say they know who Hayao Miyuzaki is and knows what a fansub is. This is my plea to anyone in the Northern California region: If you like anime then just freakin' e-mail me. Or even Jason. We're desperate to find people who we can actually talk to about anime and manga...okay, we're not that desperate. But it would be nice to find some anime fans we can talk to. It's like I can't find any...is there some underground anime thing going on? Cuz that would be odd...

Melanie: You know what would be cool?
Jason: What?
Melanie: If there was an Anime and Manga club.
Jason: What?! That'd be stupid...
Melanie: How is that stupid?
Jason: We would be made fun of.
Melanie: Dude...we're in the Computer Club. Look at the idiots in the Computer Club. I mean, come on!

I suggested the idea of an Anime and Manga club to Jason. He said it was stupid. IT AIN'T STUPID! It would be cool...the club could get together and have movie screenings and have field trips to anime conventions. We could have discussions about anime and manga...it would be great. Or, A VILLAGE!!!!!! No, wait...I already have a village...An Anime and Manga club would be really cool...Seriously, I
wanna start one. IT WOULD BE COOL DAMMIT JASON.

Now, the point of this essay? I kind of went off subject MANY times and this may seem like just another one of my rantings but it's TRUE. Jason and I can't find anyone who's into anime like us. Either that or they're all just hiding. What do I want? I want to find those underground anime fans. I want to unite them into one FORCE! Yeah...that would be cool. I'm just looking for true fans who appreciate the art that is anime and manga.

Jason: We've been talking for awhile.
Melanie: Yeah...1:14:49...
Jason: Okay, bye.
Melanie: Bye.

I bid thee farewell!

Until the next,
NERVraij
